  1. Welcome to Keyboard Master Demo, a demonstration of Spartan Software
  2. Systems Music Series product, Keyboard Master.  Keyboard Master is an
  3. IBM PC, XT, AT and PS/2 compatible software program that combines the
  4. powerful features of a sequencer with the flexibility of MIDI to create
  5. a comprehensive keyboard exploration and learning environment.
  6. Keyboard Master is to the keyboardist what the word processor has been
  7. to the writer.
  8.  
  9. Keyboard Master teaches you how to play any standard MIDI file format
  10. song with simplicity using a computerized, graphical keyboard.
  11. Keyboard Master visually shows you where to play every note in the
  12. song, stepping forward and backward through complex leads and chords.
  13. In addition, Keyboard Master can calculate, display and print hundreds
  14. of different scale and chord charts.  You can create custom scale and
  15. chord charts using the edit option, easily turning notes on and off and
  16. adding custom fingerings.  Custom charts can be saved as image files
  17. and later recalled.  Keyboard Master provides support for four keyboard
  18. notations ranging from simple dots to the actual note value.

  20. With a Roland MPU-401 attachment, Keyboard Master becomes a 64 track
  21. sequencer capable of recording, playing or overdubbing to any track.
  22. Since Keyboard Master supports Standard MIDI Files, you can share songs
  23. with other music program that also support this standard.

  25. Keyboard Master's intuitive user interface coupled with mouse support
  26. and context sensitive help screens make it an incredibly easy program
  27. to use.  Keyboard Master also provides an extensive "profile" feature
  28. which allows you to customize many aspects of the program.  From
  29. teaching to composing your own songs, Keyboard Master has the power and
  30. flexibility you need to get the job done!

  32. Keyboard Master Demo is intended to provide you with an excellent idea
  33. of the full capabilities of the actual Keyboard Master product before
  34. you buy.  This demonstration program provides all the function found in
  35. Keyboard Master with the following exceptions.  Keyboard Master Demo
  36. can only display scale and chord charts in the key of C Major.
  37. Keyboard Master Demo can only play the MIDI File provided on the
  38. program diskette (KMDEMO.MFF).  Recorded sequences and image files
  39. cannot be saved to disk.  Other than these exceptions, Keyboard Master
  40. Demo functions like the actual product.

  42. In order to realize the full integration of Spartan Software products,
  43. the installation program, INSTALL.BAT, should be used to install
  44. Keyboard Master Demo.  The installation program will create a "common
  45. area" on the disk (or diskette) of choice where Keyboard Master Demo
  46. will be installed.  Then as you purchase other Spartan Software
  47. products, they can be added to this common area via their installation
  48. programs to assure you of complete integration between products.

  50. The installation program will create a master directory called \SPARTAN
  51. which contains a unique subdirectory for each Spartan Software product
  52. that you purchase.  These subdirectories house the actual program files
  53. needed to run that particular application.

  55. The following procedure will install Keyboard Master Demo on your fixed

  62. disk.  If you wish to install Keyboard Master Demo to a disk other than
  63. your C drive, substitute its drive letter everywhere you find the
  64. letter "C" in the following steps.  If you wish to install Keyboard
  65. Master Demo from a drive other that your A drive, substitute its drive
  66. letter everywhere you find the letter "A" in the following steps.

  68.      Insert the Keyboard Master Demo diskette into drive A:
